The U.S. Cities Creating The Most White-Collar Jobs, 2016

Is your store located in one of the top 15 big cities where white-collar employment is booming? A study was recently conducted by Joel Kotkin, the R.C. Hobbs professor of Urban Studies at Chapman University, and Executive Director of the Center for Opportunity Urbanism, to determine the best places for professional and business service jobs in the country. His team reviewed employment growth from November 2004 to January 2016 in 366 metropolitan statistical areas across the country. The top cities are a mixture of tech-rich metro areas and those that offer lower costs and more business-friendly atmospheres.

With this kind of job growth, these cities are more likely to produce more affluent consumers – now and for years to come. And, as we all know, a consumer’s income level trumps every other demographic factor when it comes to jewelry purchases. High-income consumers spend disproportionately more on jewelry and other luxury goods, so targeting these areas in extremely important.
