Craft an Email that Resonates
by Angie Ash, Executive Vice President
Want to increase your open and click-through rates on the emails you send? Below are a few pointers:
- Write for ‘scanners’
Most people scan emails rather than reading them word for word. Keeping this in mind, keep your message brief, as in a sentence or two of explanation. Get in and get out. Put the most important information at the beginning to get the most eyeballs on it. The fine details can go on a landing page if necessary.
- Create a sense of urgency
Nothing motivates like a ticking clock on a good deal, so when relevant, impose a deadline. Another great tactic is mentioning the popularity or scarcity of a product. In cases such as these, try words like ‘limited time offer’ and ‘buy now before it’s gone’.
- Personalize your email
Consider segmenting emails to come from a specific salesperson the customer is familiar with. Another tried and true tactic is adding a subscriber’s name to a subject line, which can jump open rates substantially. The caveat is that you need to make sure you capture your customer’s data accurately to do this well.
