An Inconvenient Opportunity

by Shane O’Neill, Vice President

In a recent AdAge article by By Bradley Johnson, he discusses the importance of pushing your industry, your business, forward in the face of adversity. It’s our responsibility to become better positioned for the inevitable economic rebound; our families, employees, and vendors depend on it. There is nothing wrong with strategically positioning your business to be stronger when this all resolves itself, and it will. Just like the best opportunities in the stock market reveal themselves in times like these, so does the opportunity for businesses to play offense and become a lion. However, many miss the opportunity in the stock market because of fear. Those who see past the fear and acknowledge the inconvenient opportunity come out stronger at the end. So can you.

During the 2008-2009 crisis, some retailers retreated into the darkness, yet a handful of others pushed forward. Some actually became more aggressive and became the new market leaders when the dust settled. All of this fear, uncertainty, and opportunity we are experiencing is perfectly conveyed in this single clip from Days of Thundertake a sec and watch it now here.

This crisis isn’t like 2008-2009. It’s an event that we are responding to that will most likely cause short term disruption. While others retreat into hiding, will you do the same or become the lion?
I encourage you to read Bradley’s full article here.
