We’re all for charitable giving, generosity and paying it forward. Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, announced last week that they will give $3 billion to cure, prevent or manage all disease by the end of this century. Although this level of donation is way beyond the scope of what almost anyone can possibly give, it is also beyond inspiring. The money comes from their philanthropic organization, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, established last year as part of their plan to give away a majority of their Facebook fortune over their lifetime. $3 billion of that fortune is going toward scientific research over the next 10 years, allowing doctors, researchers, and engineers to work side by side in a collaborative way at a new $600 million research center they built in San Francisco. Quite a status update!
