The Ocean Clean Up

As many of us know, the human race has caused lots of issues for animals and plant life around the world. Our tendencies for consumption and waste have caused major problems with our oceans, in particular. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch – a collection of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean – is now bigger than the state of Texas and, until now, there was not much done about it. Twenty-year-old Boyan Slat is an innovator from the Netherlands who is determined to do something about the waste currently in our planet’s oceans, without disturbing much of their life or ocean currents. His plan would help clean up tons of plastic waste and remove about 42% of the aforementioned garbage patch in the next 10 years, which is more than any other tactics as of the present day. The first floating line will be deployed in 2016! See more information about it here: http://www.theoceancleanup.com/ or http://www.boredpanda.com/20-year-old-inventor-ocean-cleanup-boyan-slat/
