Ingredients
-3 to 4 pounds of apples (Jonagold, Gala or Honeycrisp work best)
-Cinnamon
-Nutmeg
- ¼ to ½ cup of brown sugar
Directions
Cut the apples into quarters, peel and remove the core. Then slice the apples and place in a pot on the stove. Add in ½ cup to 1 cup of water. Boil the apples for approximately 20 minutes at medium heat. The apples will cook down and you’ll be able to tell when they’re ready. Once the apples have cooked you can mash them down a little more to your liking as they will still be lumpy. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a ¼ to ½ cup of brown sugar, all to taste and stir it up. The applesauce can be served warm or chilled.
