Native American Heritage Month

By Kelsi Roth, Senior Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator November is Native American Heritage Month! Did you know that there are more than 500 tribal communities in America, all with their own unique traditions and history? There are many resources available to learn more about Native American Heritage Month, but sorting through all of that can be intimidating so I’ve listed a few of my favorites here! The Native American Heritage Month website has an excellent list of digital collections you can explore: https://nativeamericanheritagemonth.gov/exhibits-and-collections/ PBS has a number of excellent documentaries and short videos you can watch on their website: https://www.pbs.org/specials/native-american-heritage-month/ The book An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz and its more accessible companion, An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States for Young People, received critical acclaim and are both excellent resources for learning about Native people. You can text the number (907) 312-5085 with your zip code or city & state to find out what Native land you reside on! Our office in Toledo, Ohio is on Potawatomi, Kickapoo, Fox, Miami, and Peoria land.
