You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars every time you want a story in your local media. Use good old-fashioned public relations and let the media tell your story for free.
Look at the buzz created a couple of weeks ago by James O. Poags Jewellers in Strathroy, Ontario, Canada. Poag’s has a rental program, “Something Borrowed”, where customers can rent fabulous designer jewelry for five days at a fraction of the cost of the purchase price. It’s a great program for weddings, reunions, and other special events.
The highly-rated JACK-FM 102.3 morning show with Curtis and Hillary from neighboring London, Ontario heard about the program and talked for almost five minutes on-air. After that, they visited Poag’s, took some photos and did a complete story on the JACK-FM website.
Poag’s Jewellers got a lot of publicity from sending out a simple media release. For the complete story and audio of the radio show, check this out.
