Applesauce

Applesauce

by Ellen Fruchtman, CEO Why buy the Mott's when it’s so easy (and delicious) to make your own?

  • 4 pounds Apples (Any will do, but I usually do Envy or Honeycrisp)
  • 6-8 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (Can be omitted )
  1. This recipe is meant for crockpot use, but I’m sure you can cook it in a large pot. Timing may change.

  2. Pour your water, lemon juice, salt, and 2 cinnamon sticks on the bottom.

  3. Layer your apple chunks and continue to add your cinnamon sticks to each layer. Make sure the cinnamon sticks are tucked in for the last layer.

  4. Turn your crockpot on for 4 hours. You can stir in between a few times. The cinnamon sticks can be used twice; just rinse and dry them overnight and wrap them for your next use in this recipe! Jar the applesauce and enjoy!
