The Importance of Holiday Posts

The Importance of Holiday Posts

by Kristy Cartmell, Graphic Designer

If you can think of it, there’s a holiday for it. For example, National Brush Day is on November 1st to combat the sweet tooth many of us may be suffering from the day after Halloween. National Good Neighbor Day is September 28th and National Clean Out Your Computer Day is the second Monday in February.

So how does this relate to you? What’s the point? These holidays play a key factor in your business’s social media strategy. There are four main reasons why incorporating holiday posts into your social media are important:

  1. They are easy to create.
  2. They have emotional appeal.
  3. They are timely and relevant.
  4. They are sharable.

While not every holiday deserves its own post (not a whole lot of people might be game for celebrating Squirrel Appreciation Day) it’s important to select those that will relate well to your customer base and compliment your product. July alone features some important days with exciting targets including Fourth of July, International Kissing Day, National Ice Cream Day, Chocolate Day, and International Day of Friendship to name a few.

It’s simple: Know your audience. Feature your product alongside an ice cream cone or between a couple sharing a kiss, just be sure to keep it fun and engaging!
