Grandma’s Waffles

Grandma's Waffles

Course Breakfast


  • Waffle Iron


  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs, separated
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons shortening, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Non-Stick cooking Spray


  • Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar on wax paper.
  • Separate eggs and place egg yolks in a large bowl and egg whites in a regular bowl. Beat egg whites until firm.
  • Add milk and melted shortening.
  • Add flour mixture and STIR BY HAND just enough to moisten dry ingredients.
  • Fold in egg whites.
  • Bake in waffle iron 4-5 min.
  • Top with Jif peanut butter and Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup!
